Country announces 15 more cases and one death from covid-19

The country has recorded 15 more cases of covid-19, one death, and 89 patients considered recovered in the past 24 hours, health officials announced.

The most recent infections were registered in Luanda (7), Huila (5), Zaire (2) and Huambo (1), according to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

One more death was also reported, increasing the number of deaths due to covid-19 to 493.

The authorities also registered 89 recovered patients: 34 in Luanda, 30 in Kwanza Sul, 18 in Huambo, five in Bié and two in Huila.

Angola now totals 20,381 infected, of which 18,884 are considered recovered and 1004 active cases, including eight critical, seven severe, 75 moderate, 79 mild and 835 asymptomatic.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,400,543 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 108.7 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
