TAAG maintains flights to Windhoek

TAAG will maintain flights to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. The announcement was made this Thursday by the company's spokesman, Carlos Vicente, and comes about a week after Air Namibia revealed it was going to suspend flights to Luanda.

Although the opportunity to increase the number of flights to the Namibian capital is tempting, he said that TAAG will keep the seven weekly flights for the time being: "although this is an unquestionable opportunity, TAAG does not plan to immediately increase the number of frequencies to Windhoek or Johannesburg".

However, Carlos Vicente has not ruled out the possibility of the company increasing the number of flights, write Angop. According to him, this increase can be made as early as March when TAAG readjusts its flight schedules.

Last week Air Namibia announced it was suspending the route between Luanda and Windhoek. On Monday South African Airways also revealed that as of 29 February it will stop flying to Angola. The two companies justified the suspensions with financial problems.
