Isabel dos Santos appeals the court's decision in the case against Ana Gomes

The businesswoman Isabel dos Santos appealed the sentence of the Court of Sintra on the case for alleged offenses to the good name that she moved against the ex-MEP Ana Gomes, according to the document consulted by Lusa.

:

According to the text of the appeal, Isabel dos Santos "challenges the decision given because she considers, in the first analysis, that the sentence is null".

On 16 January, the Court of Sintra rejected the civil action filed by businesswoman Isabel dos Santos against former MEP Ana Gomes for considering "the defendant's right to freedom of expression and information [Ana Gomes] should prevail over personality rights (reputation and name) of the applicant (Isabel dos Santos).

At stake were several online publications and statements by the former MEP, including a ‘tweet’ released on October 14, reacting to an interview by the Angolan businesswoman with the Lusa agency.

“Isabel dos Santos is indebted a lot because, when settling debts, ‘washes’ that you get fed up! And (…) Banco de Portugal doesn't want to see… ”, wrote Ana Gomes on Twitter.

The civil action demanded the withdrawal of publications and the appeal insists on this idea. “The tweets in question should be removed under pain of being faced with a continuous and irreversible damage in the legal sphere of the Recurrent [Isabel dos Santos], with Recorrida [Ana Gomes], in its availability the possibility to proceed with the withdrawal of online publications line ”is read in the document.
