Isabel dos Santos bank accounts frozen in Portugal

Portuguese courts froze the bank accounts of Angolan businesswoman Isabel dos Santos and her companies at Portuguese banks Eurobic, Millennium BCP and BPI.

:

The Jornal Económico advances, citing a source close to the process, that the Portuguese justice froze the accounts of the daughter of José Eduardo dos Santos and his companies, as well as her husband Sindika Dokolo, who are domiciled in Portuguese banks.

The judicial block will have been applied to the accounts held by the businesswoman on Eurobic, and more than 10 accounts will be frozen in this bank alone. It is recalled that Isabel dos Santos put her stake in this banking institution up for sale, following the 'Luanda Leaks' process, with the acquisition of 95 percent of the capital by the Spanish bank Abanca confirmed this week.

The freeze will also extend to other Portuguese banks such as Millennium BCP and BPI and comes after a report of suspicious operations to the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP) and the Financial Information Unit (FIU) of the Judicial Police Portuguese.

The action was also taken following the "requests" for cooperation from Angola related to the 'Luanda Leaks' and taking into account the suspicion of harmful management and tax evasion of the businesswoman in the process under investigation in Angola, involving the transfer of 115 million dollars from the oil company Sonangol.
