The tournament, called the 'Copa Angola 50 Anos', is scheduled to take place in Luanda, and is expected to be attended by 12 countries, especially those that were involved in the country's struggle for independence and supported this process, with Portugal standing out.

Speaking at the opening of the first central regional championship – which brought together athletes from Bié, Cuanza Sul, Moxico, Malanje and Lundas Norte and Sul –, quoted by Angop, the president of the Angolan Karate-dó Federation also said that the competition will take place in the categories of cadets, youths, juniors and seniors, in the male and female classes.

As for invitations to personalities, Giliano André said that the invitations will be extended to the president of the African Karate-do Union and of Region 5 of the continent, among others.

According to the president of the federation, despite the desire to win the tournament and bring happiness to Angolans, the main goal is to evolve and regain confidence and the power to organize international events.

Giliano André also recalled that the country has not held competitions of this level since 2005, so the occasion will serve to demonstrate to the authorities of the sport on the African continent the progress that the country has made, particularly in the sporting component (karate-dó) and that it has the appropriate conditions to host events of this type, writes Angop.

He added that they will take this opportunity to propose that the country host the championship at the region 5 level next year and the African in the same year or in 2027: "We will take the opportunity to propose that Angola host the championship at the region 5 level in 2026 and the African one in the same year or in 2027, because we have the great challenge of organising international championships again".

As for the sporting calendar for this year, the president of the federation revealed that 12 international competitions are scheduled in which Angola will be able to compete.

It should be noted that the regional tournament of the sport took place last weekend in the province of Bié.
