According to a statement from the government of the province of Luanda (GPL), to which VerAngola had access, in addition to Hersi, the podium is also made up of Moumin Bouth Guelleh (Djibouti) and Vicent Ntabo (Kenya), who won second and third places, respectively.
"Athlete Hani Idriss Hersi, from the Republic of Djibouti, won the 68th edition of the traditional São Silvestre de Luanda Race. His compatriot, Moumin Bouth Guelleh, took second place, while Kenyan Vicent Ntabo secured third place on the podium", says the note.
In the female class, the big winner was Valentine Jepkoech. "In the women's competition, athletes Valentine Jepkoech, Josilda Dala and Adelaide Machado occupied the first three positions", points out the GPL.
In the women's Paralympic class, the winners were Helena Quintas, Salomé Augusto and Anita Ngueve, while in the men's class the "standout went to Domingos Paulo, Sabino Chipesse and Amadeu Santos".
More than 4000 athletes participated in the race, which covered a ten kilometer route and was part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of national independence.
