According to the statement from the first meeting of the year, which was chaired by Maria do Rosário Bragança, Minister of State for Social Affairs, this document aims to "support and promote national culture, within the scope of the process of national unity, the preservation of its diversity and economic and social development".
"With this plan, the Executive intends to ensure the population's access to tangible and intangible heritage, as well as to cultural and creative industries, to promote the country's social well-being and economic progress, in alignment with the principles of sustainable development", says the note.
In addition to culture, the Government also intends to strengthen policies for the education sector. In this sense, at the meeting, the committee also discussed the draft Presidential Decree that approves the National Textbook Policy.
"In the education sector, the Social Policy Commission assessed the draft Presidential Decree that approves the National Textbook Policy (PNLE), a legal-normative and didactic-pedagogical instrument that aims to regulate the preparation, editing, evaluation, certification, production, distribution, use and preservation of school books, as well as holding the entities involved in the different educational levels accountable", reads the statement, released by the Government and to which VerAngola had access.
This policy will apply to "all books and curricular materials intended for early childhood education, primary and secondary education, covering the subsystems of general education, technical-professional education, teacher training and adult education".
According to the note, the manuals to be manufactured under this policy will be of "mandatory use in all public, public-private and private educational institutions that follow the official curriculum".
In addition to these two instruments, the commission also assessed the Summary Report of the National Learning Assessment (ANA 2024), which "presents the results of the assessment carried out between April and May 2024, and provides a detailed diagnosis of student performance at the educational levels analyzed".
This data will serve as a basis for formulating "evidence-based strategies" aimed at "continuously improving the quality of education in the country".
"The initiative is part of the education sector's efforts to implement policies that guarantee quality education and the fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4, which aims to provide inclusive, equitable and excellent education for all", points to the note.
