Of the 63 new cases of cholera, 30 occurred in Luanda province, 25 in Bengo province and 8 in Icolo e Bengo province, according to the latest epidemiological bulletin from the Ministry of Health.
Three deaths were also recorded, with 128 people hospitalized with cholera.
Angola has a total of 1216 cases of cholera, 819 in Luanda province, 216 in Icolo e Bengo province, 172 in Bengo province, three in Malanje province, four in Huambo province and two in Huíla province, with people aged between 2 and 100 years.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, 48 deaths have occurred, 33 in Luanda province, nine in Bengo province and six in Icolo e Bengo province.
The most affected age group is 2 to 5 years old, with 203 cases and nine deaths, followed by 10 to 14 years old, with 162 cases and three deaths.
The Ministry of Health urges people with symptoms of liquid diarrhea and vomiting to immediately seek out a cholera treatment center or the nearest health unit.
Patients should drink plenty of boiled water or water treated with five drops of bleach and prepare homemade serum.
