The Health Minister reported that the sector she leads is carrying out a survey of human resources needs in the region, as well as other needs in order to strengthen the logistics of medicines and training of professionals, writes Angop.
During her working day, the governor checked the Cazombo Municipal Hospital, where activity and services are reduced, as well as the condition of the health infrastructure.
According to a statement from the Cazombo municipal administration, to which VerAngola had access, Sílvia Lutucuta visited several facilities, including the "São Bento Center, the land intended for the construction of a general reference hospital, the former JAIA facilities, the Hospital Municipality of Cazombo, the Maternal and Child Center and the old structure of the colonial hospital".
After the visit, the Health Minister "made a positive assessment after seeing the functioning of the province's health units on site".
On the occasion, she also congratulated the professionals in the sector for controlling the measles outbreak and "for the absence of cholera cases in the province".
Regarding the measles outbreak, the minister said that the vaccination campaign will be reinforced to put a 'stop' on the spread of the disease: "We need to take appropriate measures, raising awareness among families to take their children for vaccinations", she said, cited by Angop.
"Sílvia Lutucuta also presented the companies that accompanied her, with the mission of evaluating the construction of a general reference hospital with capacity for 200 beds and the rehabilitation of the Cazombo Municipal Hospital, considering the challenges and the growing demand for care in the new province", the statement says.
Furthermore, during the visit, the governor also delivered several medicine kits aimed at strengthening health services.
The minister also met with the governor of Moxico Leste, Crispiniano dos Santos, who highlighted "the importance of the nine municipalities that make up the province and reinforced that health is a fundamental sector in his management priorities".
On that occasion, the governor indicated the "lack of human resources, the lack of means of transport and the absence of hospital equipment as critical challenges for improving the work of the provincial health office", says the statement.
