On the occasion, the head of the Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas portfolio praised the inauguration of SLB's digital performance center.
Diamantino Azevedo, who was accompanied by the Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Alice Almeida, highlighted the "important role" of this center.
Quoted in a statement from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, to which VerAngola had access, the minister highlighted "the important role that the center will play in improving the performance of the oil industry in Angola, especially for mature fields, which in the country, presents itself as a great challenge".
According to Diamantino Azevedo, the center "is another important instrument for solving problems in the sector and its agents", as it is equipped with cutting-edge equipment and technology.
On the occasion, he congratulated the company for bringing this center to the country: "We would like to congratulate the company SLB for bringing this center to Angola."
According to Diamantino Azevedo, the center was also created with the aim of training young people in various areas of the oil and gas sector.
The Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Innovation pointed out that currently "digital technology is extremely important for our lives".
According to the person in charge, the inauguration of this center comes at an opportune moment: "This center, in addition to contributing to SLB's mission, is being inaugurated at an opportune moment in which the Angolan Executive has been committed to improving the ecosystem of innovation, scientific research and technological development for economic diversification and improving the quality of life of our citizens".
In turn, Miguel Baptista, general director of the digital performance center, reported that the center will function as "a pivot for multidimensional collaboration in which not only SLB and clients will participate, but other technological partners as well".
According to Angop, this initiative will function as a collaboration platform for participants in the oil, gas and energy sectors, providing innovative solutions in the digital and artificial intelligence domains, with the aim of identifying production zones, as well as analyzing of problems and their respective resolution, with the intention of improving the operational performance of the stakeholders.
Also speaking on the occasion was Wallasse Pescarini, president of SLB for the Offshore Market, who spoke about the choice of Angola to implement the first center on the continent. According to him, the decision was motivated by the country's need for innovation, considering the challenges that mature fields impose.
Quoted by Angop, he also said that the project will connect Angolan experts and those from other countries, where the company has similar infrastructure, such as the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, the United States of America, Norway and Mexico.
