The sixth edition of the Angola Oil&Gas Conference (AOG) will be held on September 3 and 4, in Luanda, under the motto “Transforming Dialogue into Business”. This year's edition of the conference, officially launched on Tuesday, will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of national independence.

According to a statement sent to VerAngola, this year's conference "promises to be the biggest edition ever, standing out for B2B networking, the promotion of strategic collaborations and support for the signing of agreements between the industry's main decision-makers".

In addition, the document says, the event also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the country's independence and, at the same time, "five decades of growth of the country's oil and gas industry, achieved based on factors such as transparent cooperation with major global operators, regular investment, cooperation between all industry players and innovation, which is a constant in the sector".

The Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso, considered that this edition will be held at an "important moment" for the country and the sector.

"The sixth edition of AOG 2025, organized this year as part of the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of our independence, takes place at an important time for Angola and for the national oil and gas sector," he said.

"At a time when we are demonstrating to large and medium-sized foreign investors that this continues to be a profitable sector; a sector that has not stopped growing and developing in our country over the course of 50 years, keeping the big names in the industry in Angola worldwide. Events like this naturally play an important role in boosting the sector, promoting the country abroad and attracting investment. Judging by the results of last year's event, and by the number of people who are here at the launch of this year's edition, I believe and we believe that AOG 2025 will contribute to successfully achieving our economic and social goals", he added.

Quoted in the note, José Barroso also revealed a relevant piece of information for this year. "With oil production averaging over one million barrels per day, the country seeks to further increase production through a multifaceted investment approach, including the launch of the 2025 bidding round, which will make new blocks available in the basins offshore Kwanza and Benguela, in addition to new opportunities in marginal fields", he said.

In turn, Bráulio de Brito, president of AECIPA, highlighted the role of this initiative "for the development of local content, specifically for the training of national staff, for the implementation in Angola and in Angolan companies of innovative and robust equipment and technology, as well as the increasing openness of national banks to look seriously at national projects and entrepreneurs in the sector".

The official also said he hopes that "the sixth edition of Angola Oil&Gas will break all records for business participation and professionals in the sector, whether international or national, and that it will be a moment of celebration for the country, the industry and for those in Angola, whether at a government level, whether at a business level, it makes it happen".

"In honor of this golden jubilee, the Angola Oil&Gas 2025 Conference will celebrate Angola's legacy as one of the undisputed leaders of the oil and gas sector in Africa, while looking to a future full of opportunities. The event will transform today's conversations into partnerships, investments and fundamental contracts for the next 50 years", considered the Director of Events and Projects at Energy Capital & Power, Luís Conde.

Leaving the event aside and talking about initiatives in the sector, the bidding round, mentioned above by José Barroso, is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of this year. "The bidding round, scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, includes blocks 22, 35, 37, 38 and 36 in the Kwanza Basin, and blocks 40, 25, 39 and 26 in the Benguela Basin. At the same time, the available marginal fields cover areas in blocks 4, 14, 15, 17/06 and 18", says the note, which adds that the "incremental production initiative, which offers more attractive fiscal conditions, has been a key piece in maximizing the production on existing assets".

As for the natural gas sector, the country "seeks to position itself as a major exporter, increasing the share of gas in the energy mix to 25 percent", with the Government "attracting new investments and technological innovations, with strategic projects such as Angola LNG".

As for recent developments, it is worth highlighting, for example, the fact that Chevron launched the Sanha Lean Gas Connection Project in December last year, "while the New Gas Consortium plans to start producing non-associated gas at the end of 2025 or early 2026".

"Angola also presents investment opportunities in gas-to-energy, LPG and distribution projects, making it an increasingly attractive market for investors. In the downstream, the Cabinda Refinery is expected to start operations in 2025, with an initial capacity of 30,000 barrels per day. In addition, the Lobito and Soyo refinery projects are under development, with Angola seeking investors to accelerate their completion," the statement added.

Registration for this year's conference is now open, and you can guarantee your presence and find out more on the event website.
