The Government, in a statement to which VerAngola had access, clarifies that the minister participated in a "private interactive session with political decision-makers, investors and business managers at the workshop on 'Investment in Critical Minerals Value Chains', within the framework of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, in Davos", where he addressed the relevance of "sustainable and inclusive exploration of strategic mineral resources and public-private partnerships for the mobilisation of resources necessary for the construction of infrastructures to support economic development".
The said session, the document states, brought together "stakeholders of the 'Securing Minerals for the Energy Transition' initiative", having involved "leaders from the entire critical minerals value chain, as well as from the financial, investment and industrial sectors, to strengthen global cooperation".
On the occasion, participants analyzed "the needs for investment and exploration of risk reduction opportunities throughout the critical minerals value chain, including public-private partnerships and collaborative business models along the chain", with the aim of securing critical minerals for the energy transition.
Thus, during the workshop, "success stories of public-private partnerships to mobilize financing for enabling and innovative solutions in critical minerals" were presented.
"For experts, despite advances in increasing the supply of some critical minerals and metals, a gap between supply and demand is still expected by 2030, threatening the stability of resource supply chains, which requires greater collaboration and strategic investment along the value chain to overcome these challenges", the note reads.
In addition to this session, Lima Massano's agenda – who is representing the President of the Republic, João Lourenço – includes, still for this Tuesday, his participation in a plenary session of "special interventions, whose speaker chosen for this edition will be Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa".
On Wednesday, the statement said, the minister will participate in the working breakfast of the Forum of Friends of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which will be held under the theme "Transforming Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa", aiming to promote the "implementation of the AfCFTA, through public-private partnerships".
"Ongoing under the theme 'Collaboration for the Smart Era', the Davos Economic Forum aims to drive forward-looking solutions and address the most pressing global challenges through public-private cooperation", reads the note, which adds that the forum brings together approximately 3000 participants, including heads of state and government, business leaders and international organizations, representatives of civil society, academics and the cultural sector.
Last Monday, Lima Massano met with CEOs of several companies, including Trafigura, Citigroup, De Beers, Standard Chartered Bank and Menzies Aviation, among others.
