The basis for the resignation – according to information confirmed on the Angolan Football Federation channel (WhatsApp), cited by Angop – is the fact that the midfielder does not feel valued for taking on the role of substitute in the national combine.

Therefore, according to Angop, Mukendi decided to resign from the national team having already left Bouaké, in Côte d'Ivoire.

Beni Mukendi's resignation comes one day before Angola's match with Burkina Faso, scheduled for this Tuesday, at 8pm local time (9pm in Angola), at the Charles Konan Banny stadium.

Indiscipline keeps Loide Augusto away from 'Palancas Negras'

In addition to Mukendi's resignation, the 'Palancas Negras' suffered yet another 'blow', with the removal of Loide Augusto, last Thursday, which was based on disciplinary issues.

Pedro Gonçalves, national coach, explained, quoted by Angop, that the removal aimed to protect the team from any negative consequences on the field during the championship, reaffirming disciplinary issues as justification for the removal.

In CAN, Angola is part of group D, also composed of Algeria, Burkina Faso and Mauritania. In the group stage, Angola recorded a draw with Algeria and a victory with Mauritania, thus occupying first place in the group with four points.

Burkina Faso also has the same points as Angola. These two teams are on the field this Tuesday, where they will compete for the leadership of the group.
