At a press conference, the Portuguese coach admitted, however, that it was the national team's most difficult game in Group D, in which Mauritania and Burkina Faso are also included.
"Algeria has players with the ability to unbalance any defense, but they also have vulnerable points, which is where Angola intends to surprise. This is the most difficult match during the first phase", he admitted.
Pedro Gonçalves highlighted the fact that the Algerian team is African champion and has a higher investment than the Angolan team.
"Algeria is the champion of CAN2019, with a huge investment that allows it to implement strategic plans, while Angola still faces vicissitudes that prevent it from being consistent in the evolution process", he compared.
Attacking midfielder Fredy promised that the players will do everything they can to not disappoint the Angolans' expectations.
"Playing against Algeria motivates the group. We want to show that we have value and that we are progressing in competitive terms. We know what to do to avoid disappointing the Angolans, starting with practicing a compact defense and working to score goals", he said.
The debut game is scheduled for this Monday, at 9 pm, at the Estádio da Paz, in Bouaké, Ivory Coast.
