Council of Ministers gives 'green light' to regulation on travel and tourism agencies

The Council of Ministers approved, this Wednesday, the regulation on licensing and carrying out the activity of travel and tourism agencies. The document saw the 'green light' during this year's first ordinary session of the body, which was guided by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

The regulation now approved, according to a Government statement, to which VerAngola had access, aims to "make national tourism more attractive", as well as "reduce State intervention in matters within the exclusive competence of tour operators".

In the session, where a six-point agenda was addressed, the "management measures for marine fisheries, continental fisheries, aquaculture and salt" for this year were also approved, considering the "need to adjust the catching capacity to the available potential of aquatic biological resources and aquaculture".

Still among the various topics, the consideration of laws on the Prevention and Combat of Terrorism, Money Laundering, Financing of Terrorism and the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction stands out.

The council also considered the proposal to amend the Law on International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters.

"The diplomas, to be sent to the National Assembly, aim to conform the respective legal regimes to current national and international standards of reference, as well as to overcome some shortcomings", reads the statement.

The standards, adds the statement, will ensure "the reinforcement of compliance and effectiveness of the National System for the Prevention and Suppression of Money Laundering, as well as the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction".

Furthermore, a proposed law that amends the country's penal code was also considered. "At the same meeting, the Council of Ministers also considered the Proposed Law that amends the Angolan Penal Code, in order to correct and eliminate inaccuracies, typos and insufficiencies recorded in the content of the diploma, as well as amend some standards, in order to ensure its satisfactory implementation and application", the note states.

The body also considered, to send to the National Assembly, the Organic Statute of the Office of Strategic Studies and Analysis (GEAE), a body that is under the supervision of the Military House of the President of the Republic, "specialized in providing assistance and technical-advisory support to the Head of State, through diversified studies in matters of national security, and in the development of tasks of psychological action, information, communication, civic, moral and patriotic education".

In the field of foreign policy, the Council of Ministers assessed, for submission to the National Assembly, the draft diplomas approving the ratification or accession to international treaties on the Resolution that approves the Agreement between the Republic of Angola and the Republic of Rwanda for the elimination of double taxation in matters of income taxes and prevention of tax evasion.

In this segment, was still approved the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Angola and the United Nations on Visa Exemption for "laissez-passer" and facilitation of visas on ordinary passports for United Nations personnel, their dependents, family and for job specialists.

Also part of the session's agenda were the draft presidential decree approving the Bilateral Trade Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Angola and the Government of the Republic of Zambia and approving the memorandum between the Private Investment and Export Promotions Agency (AIPEX) of Angola and the Agency for the Internationalization of Italian Companies, as well as the Office for the Promotion of Exchange of the Embassy of Italy.
