Sílvia Lutucuta opens municipal hospital in Huambo with 56 beds

The Municipal Hospital of Ecunha was opened this Thursday, in the province of Huambo. With a hospitalization capacity of 56 beds, the hospital unit was inaugurated by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta.

The holder of the Health portfolio and the governor of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, proceeded to cut the ribbon and unveil the plaque, thus marking the entry into operation of the aforementioned hospital.

This new hospital unit, which was designed "to meet the growing health needs of the community, with modern facilities and quality services", will offer "comprehensive medical care, from emergency care to specialized services", says a press release from Omatapalo, sent to VerAngola.

The hospital "is a crucial achievement for the population of Ecunha and surrounding areas", and "in addition to significantly raising the quality of medical and pharmaceutical assistance", it will also serve "as a reference in promoting the health and well-being of the community", adds the note.

Among the facilities of the new hospital are two operating rooms, imaging services, a blood bank, laboratories, pediatrics, maternity, among others.

Furthermore, the unit – which is equipped with cutting-edge technology – also has emergency services, intensive care, adult and pediatric hospitalization, etc.

The maternity ward, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health, to which VerAngola had access, has a pre-delivery room, two delivery rooms and two post-partum rooms, as well as neonatology, a nursery and two pediatric rooms.

The "outpatient consultation area has offices for medical specialties such as general medicine, gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics and orthopedics", reads the note, which adds that the hospital also has "sterilization services, imaging, clinical laboratory, morgue with 18 drawers, kitchen, dining room, laundry, oxygen ramps and accommodation for professionals".

The work was carried out by Omatapalo – Engenharia e Construção. On the occasion, the spokesperson for the Omatapalo group, Edmar Manuel, said that the project "will guarantee a significant improvement in access to healthcare".

"This project, with its strengths and quality, will guarantee a significant improvement in access to healthcare for the inhabitants of Ecunha and nearby communities, benefiting thousands of people, with very positive impacts on public health indicators in this region", he said, cited in the Omatapalo statement.
