Tax authorities collected 60.3 billion kwanzas from property tax in 2023

The General Tax Administration (AGT) collected 60.3 billion kwanzas, in 2023, with the collection of Property Tax (IP), estimating a growth of 6 percent for this year, announced that entity.

Preliminary data on IP and Motor Vehicle Tax (IVM) revenues were presented this Wednesday.

At a press conference in Luanda, AGT, which estimates that it will raise 63.7 billion kwanzas in 2024, announced that as of January 4th it had 298,885 properties in its database, mainly apartments, houses and offices.

According to the tax authorities, in 2023, property registration grew by 15 percent compared to 2022 and revenue estimates for 2024 represent an increase of 6 percent compared to 2023.

IP revenue represented, in 2023, around 1.3 percent of non-oil tax revenue.

In relation to the IVM, which will be collected from this Wednesday, AGT reported that 4.4 billion kwanzas were collected in 2023 and a further 5.4 billion kwanzas are expected to be collected this year, an increase of 6 percent compared to to the amount collected in 2023.

At least 668,846 vehicles were registered in the tax administration database until January 4, 2024.

This base contains 176 aircraft, 2851 boats, 64,429 motorcycles and 72,263 heavy and light cars.

Failure to pay IP and IVM results in a fine of 25 percent of the outstanding tax amount.
