Speaking this Friday, on the sidelines of a visit by the President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichiema, to the infrastructures of the Lobito Corridor, the official, quoted by Angop, stressed that after achieving the objective of certification, in December 2022, from International Airport Dr. António Agostinho Neto, in the capital, attention now turns to Catumbela airport.

The minister also took the opportunity to mention that the "certification of an airport" is not an "administrative act, but a technical one".

"The certification of an airport is not an administrative act, but a technical one, which requires, in addition to other competences, resources in what is the capacity of that airport infrastructure, in order to be able to serve its users, without operational risk", he indicated, quoted by Angop.

The holder of the Transport portfolio also said that there are "still some investments to be made", from the perspective of technical capacity and technical means, in addition to other procedures: "There are still some investments to be made, from the point of view of technical capacity and technical means and also a set of other procedures that we have to complete, so it takes some time," said Ricardo D'Abreu, quoted by Angop.

Catumbela airport was inaugurated in 2012 and, at the moment, it has been receiving planes of different sizes, mostly from TAAG, which has carried out domestic flights.
