The project funded by the Japanese government and implemented by Mines Advisory Group (MAG) ends this Monday, according to a statement from the Japanese embassy sent to Lusa, in Luanda.
At least 345,871 square kilometers were demined and 1912 artifacts, including 37 explosive mines, removed "in order to create a safer life in the face of the danger of mines for the beneficiary populations", in the municipality of Luena, eastern Angola.
The National Mine Action Agency, the provincial government of Moxico and the communities of the village of Luzo were the partners in this project.
Japan has supported Angola with community mine action projects since 1999, and has already disbursed more than 16 million dollars “non-refundable” in assistance programs and community projects in the country.
