"This year there are good prospects for the sector, with the entry into production of the Luaxe kimberlite which we hope will be soon", said the official, this Friday, when speaking at the end of the balance of achievements on production, marketing and export of diamonds in 2022.
Cited in a note from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, the Secretary of State said he hoped that the Luaxe kimberlite would start operating this year, as well as the constraints caused due to energy matters would be overcome.
"We are going to try to produce with lower operating costs. We know that the Ministry of Energy and Water has been committed to resolving energy constraints, it would be very good for our production areas. We have alternative sources in perspective", he said, quoted in the note.
The statement adds that "the presentations focused on the global recession that will continue to negatively impact demand around the world and that the shortage of rough diamonds, resulting from sanctions on diamonds from Russia, has caused an increase in prices due to high demand in the international market and, consequently, there was an increase in the production of synthetic diamonds, particularly in the United States of America".
