According to a note from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, the ceremony was conducted "by His Highness Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Republic of the United Arab Emirates, in the presence of several invited heads of state", among which João Lourenço.

At the ceremony, the awards and diplomas of the winners of the Zayed Prizes were delivered, which reward innovative projects in the fields of health, food, energy, water and education, developed by candidates around the world, the note said.

On the occasion, the head of state participated in the delivery of an award. "The Angolan head of state took the stage to deliver the prize to one of the winning projects", reads the CIPRA communiqué.

The event – which kicked off this Monday, in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates – aims to discuss matters related to environmental preservation, highlighting access to clean energy.

In this sense, João Lourenço is, since this Sunday, in that country, to mark his presence at the event, where, on Tuesday (January 17th), he will participate in a panel about access to clean energy and how crucial this is for development from Africa.
