João Lourenço in Abu Dhabi to participate in Sustainability Week

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, is, since this Sunday, in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he will participate in the Sustainability Week.

The participation of the head of state – who landed in the UAE capital this Sunday, accompanied by the first lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço – in the event will take place this Tuesday, January 17th, in a debate on access to clean energy and how crucial it is for Africa's development, according to Luís Fernando, spokesman for the President of the Republic.

"The President of the Republic will participate on the 17th, Tuesday therefore, in a panel reserved for a debate on access to clean, available and reliable energy and how crucial this is for the development of the African continent", said the spokesperson.

The presidents of Zambia, Uganda and Tanzania will also participate in the panel.

The PR spokesman also recalls that this is the second time that João Lourenço "is invited to express his ideas about a more sustainable world in the UAE capital, the first time taking place in January 2019".

Presidents of Angola and UAE hold meeting with reinforcement of cooperation at the center of conversation

Also this Sunday, the President of the Republic met with his UAE counterpart, Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in an audience where the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation was at the center of the conversation.

"The two heads of state spoke at the Presidential Palace of Abu Dhabi, with the central theme of strengthening bilateral cooperation", reads a note from the Presidency of the Republic, which VerAngola had access to.

This Monday, João Lourenço will attend the opening ceremony of the event. The calendar also foresees, for Tuesday, the intervention of the head of state in a panel on clean energies.

It should be noted that Sustainability Week, which concerns a forum dedicated to the environment, will run until Thursday, January 19, with the theme "United in Climate Action Towards COP28".
