The official explained that they have a "general capacity of 250 patients", however they have almost 300 patients hospitalized, meaning that "some wards had to increase" the number of beds "to accommodate patients".

"We have a general capacity of 250 patients. But we have almost 300 patients hospitalized, which means that some wards had to increase beds to accommodate patients", indicated the holder of the Health portfolio, quoted in a note from the Ministry of Health, to which VerAngola had access.

Sílvia Lutucuta also recognized "the capacity in the health unit", guaranteeing that "despite the reality, health professionals have been doing their best".

The note also recalls that two years ago, because of the rains, "the hospital management deactivated some areas for rehabilitation work".

On the occasion, the statement said, Sílvia Lutucuta said that around 7000 square meters were undergoing rehabilitation, corresponding to an old building that "was practically closed right after independence".

Cited in the note, the minister indicated that wards where patients are, kitchen, laundry, among others are being rehabilitated: "Areas such as wards where patients are, kitchen, laundry, administrative area, physiotherapy area are being rehabilitated occupational and sports areas".

The holder of the Health portfolio was "satisfied" with the development of the works and said she believed that in "six months most of the concerns will be resolved with the rehabilitation".

"About 500 family doctors are being trained in all the municipalities, which also have a psychiatry department, which will help to better decentralize services to the outskirts", the minister also informed.
