Petro de Luanda wants to build sports complex

The president of Petro de Luanda, Tomás Faria, announced on Friday that he wants to build, in the medium term, a sports complex, with a stadium, similar to the Benfica and Sporting stadiums.

:

The president said that the recent trip he made to Portugal, with visits to the two biggest stadiums in Lisbon, allowed him to outline the project.

On the occasion of the 42 years of existence of Petro de Luanda, which was marked on Friday, the president of one of the main clubs in the country guaranteed that the infrastructure will include cinemas, shops, a service station, a television studio , supermarkets, among other public services.

Tomás Faria also said that thought is already beginning on transforming the aforementioned sports association into Petro de Luanda SAD.

Despite the time of existence and the titles won in Angolan football, Petro de Luanda does not have its own stadium and plays its games at the 11 de Novembro stadium, an infrastructure under the Angolan government.

The same happens in relation to basketball and handball, modalities with several titles won domestically, as well as at the level of the African continent.

As for football, Petro de Luanda is the most titled Angolan team, with 15 trophies, at a time when it leads the present edition of the Angolan football championship, with 38 points, under the leadership of Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos.
