Five hospitals are expected to open their doors this year in Bié

The municipal hospitals of Cuito, Chinguar, Cunhinga, Andulo and Nhârea, in Bié province, may open their doors this year, said António Manuel, acting governor of Bié.

:

Construction, rehabilitation and expansion works are in progress at the five hospital units, however, the works are already in the final stretch.

According to Angop, the Cuito Municipal Hospital should be the first to open to the public. It is likely that the opening will take place next month, on 4 February, as part of the festivities of the Day of the Beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation.

With a cost of more than 800 million kwanzas, this unit was built from scratch, being able to accommodate 100 beds and will include pediatrics, medicine, orthopedics, x-ray services, among others.

The remaining hospitals are undergoing rehabilitation works.

Hospitals form part of the Integrated Program for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).

In the province, within the framework of the PIIM, 11 health units are being built, rehabilitated and expanded, which will allow an increase of more than 500 beds, writes Angop.

The governor, who was speaking at the I Forum on Municipalization of Social Action, also announced that there is still a budgetary slack to build, shortly, the Mother and Child Center in the municipality of Catabola.
