The Minister of State for the Social Area, Carolina Cerqueira, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, visited the hospital unit to verify its functioning and the conditions of medical and medication assistance, according to a statement that VerAngola had access to.
During this Tuesday morning, the visiting delegation toured the site, interacted with patients and listened to their concerns.
At the end of the visit, the two ministers met with officials from the Ministry of Health and with officials from the Center, including technicians, in order to find solutions to increase testing, improve medical and drug care, as well as collaboration with specialists of the social assistance areas.
Soon, the center will count on the reinforcement of 800 health technicians, recently selected in a public tender.
The Minister of State guaranteed that the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, is making efforts to make available financial quotas, in order to allow the Center to provide a better service to citizens and that the appropriate subsidies are paid. to employees.
The Specialized Center for the Treatment of Endemics and Pandemics, located in the urban district of Calumbo, in the municipality of Viana, is currently the largest hospital unit in the country, with 1300 beds.
Built on a land area of 62,210 square meters and inaugurated on November 11, the hospital has several laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technology, blood bank, screening services, imaging, physiotherapy and psychology, pharmacy, morgue, laundry, cafeteria for 80 people, a 192-bed dormitory, a bakery, several compartments to serve the administrative area, a water tank with a capacity of 500,000 liters and a heliport.

The Specialized Center for the Treatment of Epidemics and Pandemics (CETEP), recently inaugurated by the President of the Republic, already works and is currently hosting 70 patients with covid-19 and an equal number with tuberculosis and other contagious diseases.
