The Luanda Railroad (CFL) reported in a note that the accident occurred early Friday night, about 10 kilometers after the village of Lucala, in the province of Kwanza Norte, when the fuel train with 12 cisterns transported 480,000 liters of diesel to the province of Malanje, resulting in the total collapse of six cisterns.
"So far we have not recorded any leakage of diesel into the environment, with the immediate consequence of the destruction of 60 meters of railway line," the note added.
CFL said that technicians from the railway company are working on the site to remove the damaged material and perform the intervention on the line.
At the same time, a commission of inquiry is working on the site to determine the causes of the accident.
