Angola carried out first post-landing tests with praise from passengers

Hundreds of passengers underwent post-disembarkation tests on arrival in Luanda, at the 4 de Fevereiro airport, a measure that became mandatory as of this Saturday, praising the initiative that took place without major constraints.

:

Passengers, coming from Portugal, Brazil and South Africa, countries with which Angola will suspend direct air connections from January 24, found on arrival in the capital a hangar designated for this purpose, where chairs were available, as well as water and juices for those in need.

"They were well organized. It took about two hours between landing, testing, passing through immigration and picking up luggage," said Zélia Dionísio, who works at a food company and landed Saturday in Luanda at 7:05 am, from a TAAG flight from Lisbon .

According to her, she told Lusa that the testing took place in a hangar close to the airport, where there were more than two dozen tables with employees to fill in the personal data of the passengers and do the rapid covid-19 test.

Zélia Dionísio said that the lines were organized and care was taken not to leave passengers exposed to the sun, as well as giving priority to older passengers or families with children.

"When we arrive, the temperature is measured, we pass through a disinfection jet and then we go to a table where they fill in the data and then they call the passengers", she described.

According to her, the process was carried out efficiently and received the test result in about ten minutes, being able to fulfill the normal formalities of entering Angola and retrieve the luggage. Passengers who test positive are required to comply with institutional quarantine.

Zélia Dionísio praised the Government's measure: "I think it makes sense, given the country's circumstances and reality," she said.

For this Portuguese citizen, "this is an additional way for Angola to protect itself", taking into account that many cases were imported.

"It is a little more inconvenient for us, who did the test, but on top of that the tests are supported by the Government, there is this facility," she added.

Other passengers who returned to Angola on the same flight shared on social media the positive experience of the first day of post-landing testing, which they considered to have happened in a fast and organized manner.

The flight from Lisbon was the first to arrive at the airport, with another flight from Portugal planned, one from South Africa, coming from Johannesburg, and one from Brazil, coming from São Paulo.
