João Lourenço sends messages to African counterparts on multilateral cooperation

The President of the Republic sent messages to several African counterparts this Thursday, calling for the strengthening of multilateral cooperation, within the framework of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL).

"The content of the messages is about strengthening multilateral cooperation, within the framework of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region", an organ whose rotating presidency is currently held by Angola, according to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The recipients of the messages are the Presidents of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, and Rwanda, Paul Kagame, as well as Chad's counterparts, Idriss Déby Itno, and Sudan, Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan.

The message bearer will be the minister in charge of the diplomacy portfolio, ambassador Téte António, who left Angola this Thursday, bound for Brazzaville, Bangui, Kigali, Ndjamena and Khartoum.

In another statement, the press office of the head of state informs that João Lourenço spoke on the phone with the President of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, with both countries defending the deepening of bilateral cooperation in several areas.

The occasion also served to assess the experiences of the two countries in combating the covid-19 pandemic, added the note from the President's services.
