:

Portuguese voters registered in the Luanda census will be able to vote, in person, on 23 and 24 January, at the premises of the Consulate General of Portugal in Luanda (Avenida de Portugal, 50), while those registered in the provinces within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Portugal in Benguela, vote on its premises, based at Largo do Pioneiro, no. 21 in Benguela.

Voting time will be from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm (local time).

Early voting abroad takes place between the 12th, 13th and 14th of January, for voters who are registered in Portugal, but who are transiently displaced in Angola due to imperative due to their professional, academic or other functions provided for by law, no being able to do it in national territory.

However, in view of the restrictions imposed by the covid-19 pandemic, some voters may be prevented from voting if they are quarantined.

Angola obliges citizens who have been abroad to comply with home quarantine for a minimum period of seven days, to prevent the disease, with January being a month of return for many Portuguese who have gone to their country to spend the Christmas season.

Interprovincial trips to and from Luanda also require the presentation of a serological test, with a negative result, valid for seven days.

In the last presidential elections, which took place on January 24, 2016, only 145 of the 856 registered voters (17 percent) voted in Angola: 22 voted in Benguela, with a total of 215, and 123 in Luanda, which had 641 registered voters. .

Presidential elections are scheduled for January 24 and this is the 10th time that the Portuguese have been called to choose the President of the Republic in democracy, since 1976.

The electoral campaign runs from 10 to 22 January, with the country living under restrictive measures due to the epidemic.

These presidential candidates run for seven candidates, the third time in the history of these elections in which two women are on the ballot paper - Ana Gomes and Marisa Matias.
