The first stone of the mall was laid last Saturday, January 9th, as part of the Cazenga Municipality Day festivities.

The mall is a private initiative and, according to Tomás Bica, Cazenga's administrator, quoted by Jornal de Angola, in a first phase it will allow the creation of around 160 jobs. Once completed, the enterprise will generate about 400 new jobs.

The administrator was satisfied with the initiative, admitting that "Shopping Kicolo" will boost the growth and job offer of the region: "I am satisfied, because many of the young people will be able to find their first job in this mall. The development will support the programs of the municipal administration, in the field of employability".

Along with the construction of the mall, the municipality will be the target of some rehabilitations. The rehabilitation of the public lighting of some streets and the requalification of 7th Avenue, Streets of the Pipelines, Red Land and Nocal are planned.

There will also be requalification works in basic sanitation and drainage and reinforced actions against crime.

"Cazenga has always been seen as an area where the level of delinquency is high. That's why we're making a diagnosis in the six districts so that we can then develop a methodology capable of responding to the aspirations and desires of youth and thus be able to control crime," he added.
