On Saturday, in a ceremony, China delivered the first four locomotives to Angola. The ceremony took place in Tangshan, about 200 kilometres south of Beijing, China, and was attended by the general director of the Angolan Railway Institute, Ottoniel Manuel.
According to Ottoniel Manuel, the locomotives have a maximum capacity of 696 passengers "properly accommodated". The responsible, cited by the Angop agency, also said that the trains are composed of four carriages, are faster, "environmentally friendly" and the maintenance costs are lower.
However, the director general of the Angolan Railroad Institute did not reveal how much the country spent to purchase the Chinese trains, but stressed the work done by Angola and China in the railroad sector.
