Lunda Norte citizens will thus be prevented from traveling in this way to Luanda, Malanje and Cuanza Norte provinces. Macon is the only public transport company operating in this province, providing inter-provincial but also municipal services.
According to Claudio Gaspar, head of Macon in Lunda Norte, services will only resume when the section is rehabilitated. To Angop, the official said that the current condition of the road has caused several damages to the company's buses.
During the waiting time for the total rehabilitation of the section, the company will only provide inter-municipal and urban services to the neighboring province of Lunda Sul.
Contacting the Provincial Office of Technical Services, director Noé Chipoia noted that the rehabilitation of the road in question is the responsibility of the Ministry of Construction and Public Works. However, he said that on National Highway 225, only about 26 kilometers of the more than 26 predicted roads are asphalt.
The same official warned, however, the progression of three ravines - two in EN 230 (Xinge commune) and one in EN 225 (in the stretch between the town of Catata and the municipality of Lóvua).
