“We are convinced that we have met the necessary conditions for our country to move forward with this huge challenge of regulating disability protection, and thus to fulfill the goal established in the National Development Plan 2018-2022 of expanding the material coverage of the mandatory social protection system”, he said, quoted by Angop.
Absolute disability is considered to be any incapacitating situation - of non-professional cause - and determinant of total and permanent physical, sensory or mental incapacity for any and all profession or work. Thus, it will be necessary to verify an exempt medical evaluation before the benefit is awarded.
“The way ahead, and what is being proposed to society, is to regulate protection in absolute disability resulting from a common illness or common accidents, to all insured workers in the schemes of employees, of the regime self-employed and domestic service workers”, emphasized Manuel Moreira.
In 2019, the National Social Security Institute paid more than two hundred billion kwanzas for a universe of one million and 800 policyholders, about 179 thousand contributors from public and private companies and more than 142 thousand pensioners.
