Ana Gomes makes complaint against Isabel dos Santos to PGR and Fisco

Ana Gomes called on the PGR and the Tax Authority to conduct investigations into Isabel dos Santos. The complaint reached the entities on 12 November 2019, according to Portuguese newspaper "Jornal Económico".

:

Ana Gomes, a former MEP, filed a complaint against Isabel dos Santos with the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and the tax authorities. At stake are the alleged transfers made on behalf of Sonangol to several consulting companies located in Dubai and the financial maneuvers carried out by the daughter of José Eduardo dos Santos regarding the purchase of the Portuguese company Efacec.

According to the news released this Friday by the Portuguese newspaper "Jornal Económico", Ana Gomes justifies her complaint by saying that the alleged transfers made on behalf of Sonangol hide money laundering.

Ana Gomes had already accused Isabel dos Santos on her Twitter of "laundering" money. This accusation, which the former MEP considered led the Banco de Portugal to carry out a "lightning inspection" of EuroBic in October 2019. Ana Gomes, quoted by the portuguese newspaper, also said that it was this three-day inspection that led the Bank of Portugal to order a more thorough inspection of EuroBic on suspicion of money laundering.

For this reason, the former MEP called on the PGR and the Tax Authority to conduct investigations into Isabel dos Santos. The complaint came to the authorities on 12 November 2019, the same newspaper said.

However, the PGR has already confirmed to Lusa the receipt of Ana Gomes' complaint, saying that it was sent by the Central Investigation and Penal Action Department (DCIAP).

It is recalled that the Provincial Court of Luanda ordered the seizure of Isabel dos Santos' assets. Although this action only includes the Angolan companies of the businesswoman, the PGR has already made it clear that if necessary it will also request the seizure of Isabel dos Santos' Portuguese companies.
