According to the CSMJ resolution, dated 15 January and to which Lusa had access, Manuel Pereira da Silva was the candidate with the highest score, surpassing Sebastião Diogo Jorge Bessa, Agostinho António Santos and Avelino Yulu.
The opening of the contest was declared on March 6, 2019, but the conclusion of the contest was "conditioned to the end of the legal actions filed against this body by one of the contestants", says the CSJM, without revealing which one.
The Council and the Supreme Court dismissed the complaints, precautionary procedures and actions that were filed.
Last weekend, the president of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), Adalberto da Costa Júnior, marked the beginning of the party's activities in the new year with a speech pointing to the "transparency" of the executive, focusing on the case of the CNE, whose president was resigning. André da Silva Neto resigned in February last year citing health reasons.
