UNITA leader says that war between "marimbondos" does not help Angola

UNITA President Adalberto da Costa Júnior criticized "targeted justice" and the war between "marimbondos" within the ruling MPLA party that "is not helping" Angola.

:

Adalberto da Costa Júnior, who was speaking after a march of UNITA militants and supporters that culminated in the inauguration of the party's provincial secretariat facilities in Luanda, stressed that “everyone must return the diverted monies to the state”, stressing that “there are names of who no longer speaks”, in an intervention enthusiastically applauded by his supporters.

The leader was also surprised by the time chosen by the Attorney General's Office to seize the assets of businesswoman Isabel dos Santos, daughter of former President José Eduardo dos Santos.

"It is not strange the period they chose for the arrest", coinciding with the end of the year and the judicial holidays, asked the UNITA leader before some thousands of supporters who filled a street in the Ingombota area of central Luanda.

The Luanda Provincial Court ordered Isabel dos Santos to seize bank accounts and shareholdings in companies where she is a shareholder, such as Zap, Unitel, Cimentangola, Contidis and BIC and BFA banks, a decision made public on December 30 and that It also covers her husband, Sindika Dokolo, and Mário Leite Silva, manager of the entrepreneur in various societies.

"We do not want targeted justice, it is not good to persecute the citizens," said Adalberto da Costa Junior, stressing that the law must be applied equally to all citizens and calling for: "Stop fooling us".

He also criticized the excessive powers concentrated on the figure of João Lourenço, warning that one day when losing power can happen to him the same as happens with José Eduardo dos Santos, which harms Angola.

“Is this MPLA war good for the country? Is this war helping us? The war of the hornets against other hornets helps our country, ”shot the UNITA leader, receiving“ no ”unison in response to the crowd.

With regard to the fight against corruption, Adalberto da Costa Júnior stressed that it was UNITA that began by reporting several corruption cases, blaming the MPLA for leaving in the drawer the committees of inquiry that were requested from Sonangol, Banco Espírito Santo Angola (BESA, now Economic Bank) and the Sovereign Fund, which was presided over by "Zenu" dos Santos.

He also regretted that João Lourenço had "put on the excessive power coat" of the former President and only "pursue what is in his best interest", criticizing that the country depends on one person, as if it were "a god".

The speech marked the opening of UNITA's political year, with the president setting his priorities for this year and promising that he is already preparing to switch to power.
