“Pongo debuts in Lisbon on Musicbox his new tour and EP release”, says AMG Music in a statement, which reveals that Pongo will travel to countries such as France, Belgium and Germany.
The “progressive kuduro ambassador”, who was born in Angola but moved to Portugal as a child, will present “a super impactful show where kuduro, pop and electronics mix”.
In Buraka Som Sistema, Pongo gave voice to the theme “Kalemba (Wegue Wegue)”. Solo, he edited last year the EP “Baia”. The release of the new EP, “WUA” is scheduled for early February.
Even before the tour begins in Lisbon, Pongo performs at the Eurosonic festival, which runs until Saturday in Groningen, the Netherlands.
The singer, who performs this Friday, is among the nominees of the Music Moves Europe Awards, which distinguish emerging artists who represent "the European sound of today and tomorrow" and whose winners will also be announced on Friday. The prize has a value of ten thousand euros, “to be spent in view of the international career”. There will also be a public prize of 5,000 euros.
After Lisbon, Pongo's European tour passes through Paris (7 February), Utrecht, the Netherlands (8 February,) Bern, Switzerland (19 February), Annecy (20 February), Metz (22 February), Riorges (25 February), Clermont Ferrand (26 February), Lyon (28 February), Rambouillet (29 February) and Saint-Jean-de-Védas (4 April), all locations in France.
After a stint in Brussels (7 April), Pongo returns to France for concerts in Dunkerque, St Nazaire and Chateaulin, then to the UK, where he has scheduled shows in Bristol (16 April), Brighton (17 April) and London (April 18). On April 24, Pongo performs in Cologne, Germany.
