According to the village ruler of Cazanga, António Kimuanga, herds of up to a dozen elephants are destroying banana, maize, cassava and potato crops.
The traditional leader, cited by Angolan public radio, said that due to the situation the population was left without food, so he asked the authorities for support.
In his turn, Ambaca municipal administrator Francisco Cambango called on the population to use traditional, non-disruptive tricks to scare away mammals, including the touch of cans and bonfires.
