"The public passenger transport company, Macon, launched a new fleet of 50 buses, as part of improving interprovincial mobility services", says the government of the province of Luanda (GPL), in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

The launch event was attended by several personalities, such as the provincial vice-governor for the Economic Sector, Jorge Miguens Augusto, the president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the National Transport Agency Terrestres (ANTT), Énio Costa, among others.

According to a statement from ANTT, supported by VerAngola, this reinforcement will allow greater mobility for passengers traveling from one province to another.

"The increase in the interprovincial fleet represents greater mobility of passengers moving from one province to another, thus connecting all provinces of Angola, which shortens travel time safely and facilitates territorial cohesion", reads the notice.

According to Jornal de Angola, this new fleet of 50 buses, intended for interprovincial routes to serve the executive segment, led to an investment of around five billion kwanzas.

In addition to improving mobility, these new means should also help stimulate employment. According to Luís Máquina, president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of Macon, since 2019, the company has been reinforcing the fleet, which resulted in the admission of more than 700 workers in different areas and that with the purchase of these fifty buses the company plans to hire more drivers.

"Today, the company has around 2200 direct workers", he said, adding that more than 500 buses operate on interprovincial and interregional routes, particularly Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, writes Jornal de Angola.

The new buses are intended to connect Luanda to other provinces in the country.
