"The Minister of Youth and Sports congratulates Mabululu on the award for 'Best Goal of the Year' at the CAF Awards 2024, and highlights the nomination of Palancas Negras as 'Best Team of the Year', Petro de Luanda as 'Best Team of the Year' and of coach Pedro Gonçalves as 'Best Coach of the Year", the note reads.
According to the head of the Sports portfolio, this is "an achievement that inspires and elevates Angolan sport".
In a statement cited by Angop, Rui Falcão points out that Mabululo's election reflects the talent, dedication and passion of national athletes.
According to the governor, it is moments like these that bring hope and encourage everyone to persist in the effort to take national sport to ever higher levels.
The minister also considered that this award serves as an inspiration for young national football players, especially for those who aspire to follow Mabululu's path as great scorers.
"I also want to highlight national coach Pedro Gonçalves, who competed for the best coach of the year award. His leadership was decisive for our team's unprecedented results in CAN 2023 and for the historic qualification for CAN 2025", said Rui Falcão, which, cited by Angop, also highlighted the other nominees (national team and Petro de Luanda).
Mabululu dedicated his award to the Angolans. Using social media, the attacker thanked everyone who trusted him for their votes.
"This trophy belongs to you, the Angolan family. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart to everyone who voted for me. I'm speechless", reads the player's post, made on his Instagram.
