Joe Biden: “The future of the world is here, in Africa, in Angola”

The North American President stated that the future of the world lies in Angola and Africa and that the United States is fully behind the continent. Joe Biden made the statements this Tuesday in a meeting with his counterpart João Lourenço, declaring himself “proud” to be the first President of the United States of America (USA) to visit Angola and for what they have done together to “transform the partnership".

“There is a lot we can do, there is a lot we can do. The results, so far, speak for themselves,” Biden told João Lourenço, thanking him for his hospitality.

Joe Biden discussed US investments in Angola, from the Lobito corridor to solar energy projects and Internet and telecommunications infrastructure.

He also spoke about investments to increase agricultural production, “so that Angola can feed itself” and also the rest of the world, considering the sector as “a good opportunity” for the national economy.

The United States, he stated, is “totally with Africa” and with Angola, noting that his administration has already invested three billion dollars in Angola so far.

“The future of the world is here, in Africa, in Angola”, he highlighted, stating that it is also part of his priorities in Angola to discuss how democracy is guaranteed for the people, highlighting João Lourenço’s commitment to this area.

Joe Biden stated that the United States does not have all the answers because it is bigger or stronger, and is ready to listen to Angola's needs, particularly with regard to international financing.

“And I say from the bottom of my heart, the future of the world is in Africa”, he declared, considering that in 20 years this will be the largest economy in the world.

“The more successful you are, the more successful we will be and the more successful the world will be”, concluded the North American head of state.

Joe Biden arrived in Luanda at the end of the day on Monday, for what is the first visit by a North American head of state to the country. This Tuesday, in addition to meeting, in Luanda, with João Lourenço, he will speak at the Slavery Museum.

The outgoing President of the United States will travel to Lobito on Wednesday, the city that will host an international summit on the Lobito Corridor, an infrastructure that has received significant investment from the United States and the European Union, and which will allow the connection of the port of city ​​to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia, in a project that will allow the flow of ores and other resources across the Atlantic.
