Petro wins but Académica and Sagrada Esperança lose in international competitions

Portuguese footballer Alexandre Guedes scored twice, on Saturday, in the 2-0 victory of Petro de Luanda, owned by Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos, against Étoile Sahel, in a match on the second round of Group C of the African Champions League. Académica do Lobito and Sagrada Esperança lost, on Sunday, in the African Confederation Cup in football, against Clube Africain and Abu Salem, in games on the second round.

The forward, who represented Desportivo das Aves, Vitória de Guimarães, Famalicão or Paços de Ferreira, scored the two winning goals in the 67th and 90+4 minutes.

With this victory, the two-time Angolan champions lead Group C, with six points, followed by the Sudanese Al Hilal Ondurman, who have three, after beating Espérance de Tunis, 3-1, on Friday. The Tunisians are in third, also with three points, while their compatriots from Étoile Sahel remain in last place, with no points.

Petro de Luanda returns to Tunisia on December 9th, to face Espérance de Tunis, in the third round of the African Champions League.

In turn, Académica do Lobito and Sagrada Esperança lost this Sunday in the African Confederation Cup in football, after losing to Clube Africain and Abu Salem, in games on the second round.

In a Group C game, played in Luanda, the Tunisians' goals were scored by Bassem, twice, in the 46th and 75th minutes, and Handi Labidi, in the 53rd, while the Angolans reduced the score by Samuel, in the 63rd.

Académica do Lobito, who lost in the first round, against Rivers United, from Nigeria, 3-0, will play again on December 10th at the reception to Dreams FC, from Ghana.

Clube Africain, from Tunisia, leads Group C, with six points, followed by Dreams FC and Rivers United, from Nigeria, both with three, while Académica do Lobito is last, still without points.

In Group B, Sagrada Esperança also lost at the Libyan side Abu Salem, 1-0, with a goal from Aleiyan, in the 88th minute.

On December 10, the Angolans, who beat Soar, from Guinea Conakry, 2-0 in the first round, visit the Egyptians from Zamalek, in a game on the third round.

The group is led by Zamalek, with six points, followed by Abu Salem and Sagrada Esperança, with three, while Soar, from Guinea Conakry, is last, without any points.
