Sociedade Mineira Yetwene has explored more than 24 thousand carats of diamonds since 2019

More than 24 thousand carats of diamonds were explored by Sociedade Mineira Yetwene between 2019 (the year in which prospecting activity began) and 2023. However, the company aims to increase production levels and, to this end, is investing in the installation of new treatment units that should be operational by June of next year.

According to Bento Augusto, acting general director of Sociedade Mineira Yetwene, the company is "going well" with regard to operational activities.

"In terms of operational activities, we are also progressing well. We are now, with a view to increasing our production levels, installing new treatment units that we believe will be operational by June 2024", said the person in charge, speaking to Public Television of Angola (TPA).

With current production standing at around 3000 carats per month, according to TPA, there are prospects for it to grow to 18 thousand in the coming years with the start-up, in June of next year, of three new treatment units.

Regarding labor, the company currently employs more than 300 people, however, according to Bento Augusto, it plans to hire new employees, as a result of increased production.

"We started with 236 direct employees. We have some progress in human capital, we went from 236 to 324 and from the perspective we will admit more employees due to our new investment that is already underway", he stated, quoted by TPA.
