João Lourenço thus responds to an invitation from his counterpart from Gabon, Ali Bongo, with the expected signing of two agreements on the suppression of visas in diplomatic and service passports and on political consultations.
Speaking to the press, the head of Angolan diplomacy, Téte António, pointed out that the two countries have not held a bilateral commission for 37 years.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the President's visit will allow boosting the dynamics that already exist in terms of agreements signed between the two countries.
“But the two leaders will also take the opportunity to have a 'tête-à-tête', which is always something essential when two leaders meet, then the delegations will also sign two agreements, the agreement on visa suppression and an agreement on political consultations”, he specified.
Téte António underlined that Angola and Gabon are two important countries in the region, both have the same experience in hydrocarbons, it is the fourth largest economy in the central sub-region, among other aspects.
“Gabon is also a dynamic country in terms of trade, it is on the same path as the Republic of Angola with regard to the diversification of the economy (…) it is a wood producing country, a large wood producer, it is in the equatorial forest, therefore, the diversification of the economy is also part of this country's challenges and I think it is a good exchange of experience between the two countries”, he stressed.
