The event, which took place on the sidelines of the US-Africa Summit, discussed the theme "Breaking down barriers to cancer treatment for women and girls" and featured presentations by Melissa Clarke Bruce, physician and CEO of the BHE Group, pharmaceutical company Roche and from Pepfar.
At the meeting, advances Angop, the participants talked about risk factors, prevention measures, diagnosis and treatment of this disease, mainly breast and cervical cancer.
In addition to Ana Dias Lourenço, also attending the meeting were the First Ladies of Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Botswanna, Namibia, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Gabon, Liberia, Madagascar, Ethiopia, and the husband of the US Vice President, Doug Emhoff.
Ana Dias Lourenço delivers goods to the pediatrics at the General Hospital of Luanda
As part of the "Roda do Amor" platform – an initiative of the First Lady of the Republic –, Ana Dias Lourenço delivered, this Thursday, food and personal hygiene kits to the pediatrics at the General Hospital of Luanda. Added to this list, with a view to improving care in the area of intensive care, especially for the neonatology unit, is the provision of hospital equipment: three ventilators, three patient monitors with thermometers and infusion pumps with syringes for the neonatology unit, writes Angop.
The initiative was applauded by Bernabé Lemos, director of the General Hospital of Luanda, who said that these are resources that vulnerable children need, and took the opportunity to exemplify that in the first eight months of this year (from January to August) they provided care to about 72,000 children in the various services, who benefited from the support that has been provided by the First Lady of the Republic.
Cited by Angop, the official classified as a "gain" the equipment given to the neonatology unit, especially for intensive care since the demand has been high and the resources will help save lives.
According to Angop, the initiative has been taking place since 2018, mobilizing several partners (such as Nestlé Angola, Emaxicom, among others), to provide half-yearly support to the hospital's pediatrics.
