Judoka Diassonema Neide wins gold at African Judo Championship

Angolan judoka Diassonema Neide Curiata Mucungui won the gold medal at the African Judo Championship, which is taking place in Madagascar, in the -57kg category.

"The judoka became the African champion in its category, by winning the three battles it held" this Thursday, the day the competition took off, explained the 1.º de Agosto in a statement published on its official website.

One of the clashes was against the Ivorian Dabon Abzetta, and the Angolan was victorious.

In her Facebook page, the athlete thanked everyone for their support and motivation, saying that she never stopped believing: "After a lot of work, in the middle of this crisis that the world is going through, I never stopped believing that one day it would be possible. With the support, motivation of help from all of you, family, my masters (coaches), friends, colleagues and followers, the National and International Olympic Committee, the CRJS Petit-Couronne, MSPORT, Clube do 1.º de Agosto, GDA Angola, I achieved this great achievement".

According to the note, Diassonema Neide "is now among the three best judokas on the African continent, occupying 34th place in the world ranking.

The conquest of this Thursday, puts the Angolan judoka closer to compete in the 2021 Olympic Games, which will take place in Japan.
