Covid-19: Luanda keeps sanitary fence for another 30 days

The province of Luanda will maintain the health fence for another 30 days, but the entry and exit of truck drivers with essential goods for the festive season will be facilitated, with free tests, and daily flights to Cabinda are also planned.

The measures were presented by the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, and are part of the new presidential decree on the situation of public calamity to combat the spread of the covid-19, which comes into force on Saturday.

The minister said that the sanitary fence in Luanda will be maintained until the 10th of January, "because the fundamentals that determined its creation" are maintained, namely the containment of the virus.

However, leaving and entering the province will be easier in the festive period, between Christmas and the end of the year.

Interprovincial circulation will continue to be subject to prior serological testing, but to facilitate the outflow and entry and exit of essential products for the holiday season, the demand for which will increase, the Government will provide free tests for truck drivers who transport these goods from, and to Luanda.

Adão de Almeida announced that the increase in flights to the province of Cabinda will also be authorized. "We are creating conditions for daily flights," said the Minister of State.
