According to Jornal de Angola, the general intends, with this attitude, to protect the operator from possible harmful situations that could be triggered by the sanctions applied to him by the United States of America (USA).
The general is the largest shareholder in GENI, a company that owns a quarter (25 percent) of Unitel.
The decision of Leopoldino Fragoso do Nascimento was welcomed by Unitel. According to a source quoted by TV Zimbo, the operator received the news with relief, as it feared being the target of negative impacts, such as possible interruptions in the supply of goods and services by US companies.
Remember that last week, the US government froze all the assets that Generals 'Dino' and Manuel Hélder Viera Dias Júnior 'Kopelipa' have in that country.
