João Lourenço says that anyone who gets involved with the MPLA has to go through the women

MPLA's re-elected president, João Lourenço, said that anyone who gets involved with the party “must go over women” and urged the militants to work now for the “victory party” in the 2022 elections.

After a parade of delegates from the 18 provinces who, singing and dancing, left offerings and expressed their appreciation for the re-elected party leader, it was in a festive tone that João Lourenço made his closing speech at the VIII Congress, highlighting among the most important points. marked gender parity and greater youth representation.

The MPLA, which celebrated its 65th anniversary, approved at this congress a new composition of its Central Committee, extending to 196 more members, 346 men and 347 women, and 35 percent more young people.

The leader of the MPLA, re-elected with 98.04 percent of the vote, also President of the Republic of Angola, thanked the commitment of the Organization of Angolan Women, the female arm of the party, and reinforced the words of its leader, Joana Tomás, saying that " whoever gets involved with the MPLA has to go over the women".

"Which isn't easy, because stepping over women is stepping over our mothers and whoever dares to step over our mothers is cursed, isn't he?" the president told the militants who watched from the audience and erupted in a loud and enthusiastic chorus of whistles.

In addition to the strength of women, João Lourenço declared himself protected by the vigor of the youth and was pleased with the festive atmosphere that marked the end of the day at the Belas Conference Center, MPLA headquarters in Luanda.

"Who doesn't like a party? We all do," he congratulated, appealing to the militants to start preparing "the next party", that of electoral victory, right away.

"We are all going to work on organizing the next party, which will be the victory party in August 2022. This August 2022 party is already here," exhorted the party leader, deserving further acclaim.
